ORAL, the old female Metal band!!!

O.K., when I was first getting into the UK scene back in the 80's, there was an all female band named Oral. I was never able to find any of their stuff, but for obvious reasons I always wanted to hear them. I tracked one guy down who was familiar with them, but he had nothing by them. Does anybody have their stuff? I have heard that there is nothing special about them, other than the fact that they are quite vulgar. Anybody have any pictures of them? I also remember that for their being so into the whole "sex thing", that they were not all that appealing to the eyes. I think one of them was cute, and the other two were...ugh.

They were sort of heavy pop-metal with glamish touches. All I know of is one EP called "Sex" that was released in the early mid-80s. Big joke at the time about "getting Oral Sex." as well.

As for the members' looks, there was a cutesy blonde whose image was sort of like Beki Bondage's at the time: bleached blonde hair; black dress; stockings and stilettos; bright makeup. A bit more kewpie/Monroe than Beki's take on the Barbie doll. The other two were more or less nondescript in looks.

Supposedly, one of them was fifteen. I understand it was the blonde. Clothes/makeup can help a fifteen year old appear to be at least ten years older. Rock Goddess proved that as well as early Girlschool.

Yup, you got them alright! The blonde was the one I remembered as to being cute. Now hat you say it, I also remember it coming out that she was 15! They did a song called "Pearl Necklace" and I remember Kerrang! stressing that it was NOT a cover of the ZZ Top song, and was actually the REALLY nasty song on the release.

I have a feeling I am going to hit a wall again on this search.

Although they have some of the details wrong, that site is not as accurate as tbey pretend, it is the same bunch.

I even recall Sylvie's review in K! when that mag hadn't turned to shit yet. Isn't she in LA now?

Yup, that would be them! That was one of the few pictures Kerrang ran on them. The one in the middle is the one in question about the age.

I think the main problem is obvious when searching for them though, as you don't exactly have to try REAL hard to figure out what links you get when you search for "Oral Sex" on google. Even on file sharing programs...you will have more chances of getting a million porn hits than even 1 hit on the easily forgotten band out of the UK in the mid-80's. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
